Actually it's an outdated way of saying it, but essentially it was a phrase used more commonly by women/girls as an excuse to use the bathroom while outside because the act of crouching down and relieving oneself looked close enough to picking flowers that it became a somewhat function code. Although, fun fact, I watched in MP4 and the subtitles translated it as "Powder My Nose" instead of "Picking Flowers", so you lucked out with the more humorous version. XD As for the group not mentioning anything about the blood, well, I think that's part of the gag, it's just completely "normal" no need to comment apparently. XD
